How will you deliver the classes?

We will use the Zoom online meeting service as our platform.  Once enrolled you will be emailed an invitation to join the class on your computer.  Exercise files and our digital training guides will be sent to you prior to the class as well.  When you join the class online, you will see the instructor's video as they share their screen and demonstrate all of the class exercise and be able to ask question just as if you were in our classroom.

Are these classes just training videos?

No, these classes will all be delivered "live" by our instructors.  You will be learning "real-time" and have the opportunity to interact with the instructor, asking questions and receiving immediate feedback.

What equipment do I need to take a class from home or my office?

As all classes will be delivered virtually, you will need:

  • A computer connected to a strong, reliable internet connection
  • The ability to join the meeting using Zoom
  • Speakers/headset so you can hear the instructor
  • A microphone/headset to talk with the instructor
  • The software application the class covers if you want to follow the hands-on exercises
  • Optionally, a web-camera if you wish to be seen during the class

Can I follow along during the hands-on exercises?

Yes, absolutely!  We will send you the exercise files and digital training material prior to the class.  So long as you have associated software you are being trained on installed on your computer, you can do the exercises as the instructor demonstrates them.  If you are using a single display computer, be aware that you will need to be comfortable tiling the windows or switching between the windows during the instruction.  We have reformatted most of our courseware manuals to have fewer pages (but the same great content) so we strongly encourage you to print them out prior to the class for easy reference.  If you elect not to print the guides you can view the PDF guide on the same computer you joined the class on - or from another device (e.g. a separate laptop/tablet) if it is easier.

Can I attend a class without the software that the class is covering installed?

Yes, as this live class will feature the instructor sharing their screen, showing the application and exercise files, you are welcome to follow along with the training guide that we provide.  We strongly recommend printing those guides out (most 30-40 pages) for easy reference during the class, or view them digitally (PDFs) on your computer or separate device.

What do I need to do before my class?

Besides having the emailed invitation with the meeting ID number available, you will want to make sure you have your computer, speakers, and microphone all working correctly before the class.  Have the exercise files and necessary software installed if you want to follow along hands-on during the exercises.  Whether you are attending the class from work or at home, position yourself in such a way to minimize disruptions and background noise so that you can focus on the course content being delivered.  We strongly encourage you to print out our revamped courseware manuals (most 30-40 pages) so you can make notes as we do the instruction.

FAQ #7

How long are the classes?

The course length for our standard classes have not changed for the online format.  The majority of our Microsoft Office titles are delivered in a full day, 6-hour class. Others are a half-day, and a select few are delivered over two-days.  Classes typically run from 9:00AM to 4:00PM.  The online class will disconnect for lunch for one hour near noon, and you re-join the Zoom meeting at 1:00PM until 4:00PM. We will have short breaks in the AM and PM.

Absolutely.  The Class Passes can be used for any standard half-day or full-day class regularly priced up to $269.
